Wasteland

Wasteland is an 18-minute film directed by Antoine Flahaut, as his diploma project in bachelor film studies at ECAL in 2018. The movie is produced by ECAL and Milos-Films. It was first shown during the ECAL Bachelor films screening at the Capitole in Lausanne in October 2018. Its world premiere took place at the Solothurner Filmtage in January 2019 and its North American premiere happened in Palm Springs,California, in June 2019.



Synopsis
It is the end of the 1960s and Jérôme has failed his high school exams. His best friend, David, has passed them and is getting ready to leave town, maybe forever. Summer is just beginning but their friendship seems doomed to end.



Music
Wasteland contains film versions of the songs Things were easy and Alphaville, as well as two instrumental tracks called Surf party and The dropouts. All music was written, composed, played and mixed by myself.

Wasteland won the Prix du Cinéma Suisse 2019 (First prize) at the Rhode Island International Film Festival, Newport (USA).
